WELCOME TO THE COSTUME DESIGNERS GUILD The COSTUME DESIGNERS Guild (CDG) is Local 892 of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E.). The Guild represents COSTUME DESIGNERS, ASSISTANT COSTUME DESIGNERS and COSTUME ILLUSTRATORS working at the highest levels of skill and expertise in motion pictures, television and commercials. The CDG promotes and protects the economic status of its members while improving working conditions and raising standards for our craft.
You may be wondering, "What does a COSTUME DESIGNER do?" A COSTUME DESIGNER transforms the words of the script into visual imagery and creates the look of a character. Costume design helps to create believable characters and supports the narrative in a fictional universe. In other words, costume design is storytelling.
The 12th ANNUAL COSTUME DESIGNERS GUILD AWARDS will be held on February 25, 2010 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills, California. 2009/10 CDG Printed Directory. The opt-in period for the 2009/10 Printed Directory is now open; the deadline for entries to the Print Directory is July 31, 2009. Log into the members-only website to Opt In. (Members may update their contact information and resume credits at any time to update the public and members-only web sites.) Please remember, your professional credits must be for Guild covered work, no theater or private projects.
