2004 HALL OF FAME
Richard Hornung (1950-1995)
Born and reared in Pennsylvania, Hornung attended the University of Illinois for his M.F.A. degree. He then set off for New York to become a costume painter and dyer. Hornung quickly became entrenched in Broadway Theater working as an assistant designer, later becoming a full-fledged designer working on such shows as "Brighton Beach Memoirs" and "Candida." His first big break in movies came from filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen for "Raising Arizona" (1987, Holly Hunter/Nicholas Cage). Hornung continued to design and clothe the delightfully eccentric characters in various other Coen Brother productions such as "Barton Fink" (1991, John Turturro/John Goodman) for which he earned an Academy Award® nomination, and "The Hudsucker Proxy" (1994, Tim Robbins/Paul Newman). Hornung worked on many other high profile films of the 90s including: "The Grifters" (1990, Angelica Huston/John Cusack); "Miller's Crossing" (1990, Gabriel Byrne/John Turturro), and "Natural Born Killers" (1994, Juliette Lewis/Woody Harrelson).
